First week home from residential — what does a good day actually look like?

My son comes home Friday after 45 days. He's nervous, I'm nervous. For those who've done this: what did the good first weeks look like, hour by hour?

Boring. Gloriously, deliberately boring. My good first week: wake at the same time as treatment did, breakfast, IOP or a meeting, a real task with my hands, dinner at the table, phone call with a sober friend, bed early. The dangerous hours are the empty ones — Friday night, Sunday afternoon — so we scheduled them like appointments. Also, family tip my wife would give you: the house wasn't a surveillance state and it wasn't a celebration banquet. It was just... normal, with structure. Normal was what I was starving for.

One more: agree on the hard conversation schedule in advance. Week one is for stability, not for processing everything that happened. There'll be time.
