RecoveryHome exists because finding help should not require decoding who profits from your desperation. These four commitments are structural — built into how the company makes money, not just what it says.
Independent
We are owned by no treatment company, hospital system, or marketing network. Every listing shows its data source. Every sponsor is labeled. An annual transparency report will show every revenue source.
Never brokered
We refuse per-call, per-lead, and per-admission money categorically. Advertisers pay flat fees that never vary with volume — the structure the law demands and the industry too rarely delivers. Your call goes straight to the center, unrecorded by us.
Carefully sourced
We are not a medical provider. Our information summarizes guidance from SAMHSA, NIH, and the medical community — dated, cited, and corrected in public. Member answers are framed as lived experience, never as medical advice, and anything our team writes in the Q&A is labeled as ours. We never post as members.
Private by design
No ad trackers, no retargeting pixels, no selling data — anywhere, ever. You are searching on one of the worst weeks of your life; that fact will never be a product.
How we make money, in plain English
Licensed treatment centers pay flat fees for Enhanced profiles, labeled sponsored placements, Q&A topic sponsorships, top banners, and job posts. That's the whole model. Fees never depend on how many people call or admit, every paid placement is labeled, and our guides and answers are never for sale.

Our guides summarize publicly available guidance from federal health agencies and the medical community — SAMHSA, NIH/NIDA, and CMS — with citations on every page. When a question needs medical advice, we say so plainly: talk to a licensed professional.
How search results are ordered
Results are grouped, in this order:
- Featured. Centers that pay for an Enhanced profile. Every one is marked “Featured” on its card.
- Claimed. Centers that have claimed their free listing to keep their information current.
- Everyone else. Every other licensed center in public records, listed free.
Within each group, the nearest centers come first when you search by location. Otherwise, more complete profiles come first and the order rotates daily, so no center sits at the bottom because of its name. Sponsored cards at the top of some pages are separate ads, always labeled “Sponsored.” Payment never changes what our guides or answers say, and no one can pay to remove or hide another center's listing.
Community & holistic programs (peer support groups, sober living homes, faith-based programs, and wellness services) aren't licensed to provide addiction treatment. They appear in their own section below every licensed center, each tagged “Not licensed treatment,” and they're left out whenever you filter for a level of care, medication treatment, payment, specialty, or accreditation. Within that section they follow the same order: Featured, then claimed, then the rest. A paid listing there never appears above a licensed center.
Built from the provider side of the desk
RecoveryHome was built by people who have worked on the provider side of addiction treatment. We've paid for banner ads, fielded calls from referral middlemen, and watched families struggle to get a straight answer. The best recovery sites of the past earned their trust from one thing: people helping each other, in public, at 2 a.m. RecoveryHome is that idea rebuilt the way it always should have been — independent, transparent, and human.
