Functional on paper — job, apartment. But weekends are a disaster and it's getting more frequent. Can IOP actually work or am I kidding myself?

It depends less on the substance and more on your situation, and there's a real way to answer it: ask a center for a level-of-care assessment (the ASAM criteria) — they look at your use pattern, environment, mental health, and past attempts, and recommend a level. IOP genuinely works for a lot of people with jobs and stable housing IF the weekend structure gets rebuilt — that's the part that decides it. Be honest in the assessment about the weekends. The answer might be IOP plus a weekend plan, and that's a real plan.
